This page explains which cookies Buscatango uses and what each one is for. You can read more about how we handle data in general in our Privacy Policy.
Cookies we use
| Cookie | Purpose | Duration | Type |
|---|---|---|---|
lang | Remembers your preferred language (English/Spanish). | 1 year | Technical (necessary) |
cookie_consent | Remembers whether you accepted or declined analytics cookies, so we don't ask on every visit. | 1 year | Technical (necessary) |
PHPSESSID | Technical server-session cookie: keeps organizers logged in to the admin panel, and protects forms like the contact form against fraudulent submissions (CSRF). Doesn't identify visitors or serve any analytics purpose. | Until browser is closed | Technical (necessary) |
_ga, _ga_* | Google Analytics: anonymized site usage statistics (pages visited, visit duration, etc.). | Up to 2 years | Analytics (only with your consent) |
_GRECAPTCHA | Google reCAPTCHA: tells people from bots on the contact form (only loaded on that page). | Up to 6 months | Security (needed to submit the form) |
Technical vs. analytics cookies
Technical cookies are necessary for the site to work (e.g. remembering your language) and don't require your consent. Analytics cookies (Google Analytics) only load if you click "Accept" on the cookie banner shown on your first visit — if you click "Reject", no Google script loads and no analytics cookie is set.
Changing your mind
Right now, the way to change your choice is to delete the cookie_consent cookie from your browser (or clear this site's cookies entirely) — on your next visit, we'll ask again.
