ABOUT THE TEACHERS Eric Dinzel and Flavia Kohut have been a professional Argentine tango couple since 2015. Since then, they have built an extensive career as dancers, teachers, choreographers, and directors, participating in stage productions, training programmes, and cultural projects in Argentina and abroad. Both teach at the Centro Educativo del Tango de Buenos Aires, an official institution under the Government of the City of Buenos Aires, and at Estudio Dinzel, one of Buenos Aires’ most historically significant tango schools, founded by the renowned couple Gloria and Rodolfo Dinzel, Eric’s parents. Their artistic and pedagogical work is rooted in the Dinzel System, which understands tango as a dance of equality and expressive freedom, where communication between the two roles is guided by the search for unity within the embrace and the possibilities of improvisation. They are the creators and directors of Improvisation, The Method, a theatre production that premiered in Buenos Aires in 2024. Since 2021, they have also directed a professional training company dedicated to developing new artists. Created by Rodolfo and Gloria Dinzel, the Dinzel System is one of the most significant contributions to the theory and teaching of tango dance. It proposes a vision of tango as an art of communication and improvised creation, grounded in equality between roles, expressive freedom, and the unity of the embrace as both an aesthetic and a human principle. Today, the system is used internationally as a pedagogical approach to Argentine tango and has been adopted by prestigious institutions, including the Bolshoi Theatre and SODRE in Montevideo, as a framework for transmitting tango as a performing art and cultural discipline.
