MAXIMILIANO CRISTIANI IN LATVIA November 4–8 | Riga • Jūrmala We are incredibly lucky — in November, Maximiliano Cristiani is coming to Latvia, a master of the highest international level, World Champion in Tango de Pista, a magnificent dancer and outstanding teacher who has raised a whole generation of dancers. Maximiliano possesses his own unique style and a very deep vision of tango. He has been teaching and performing all over the world for many years, working with dancers of different levels and cultures. His international schedule is booked months in advance, and we are especially pleased that Maximiliano has found a few days in it specifically for us — to come to Latvia and share his knowledge, experience, and his understanding of tango. Each masterclass will develop from simple to more complex, so that the material can not only be understood but truly integrated into your tango. WS1 — DIAMOND LESSONS November 4, Wednesday | 19:30–20:45 Riga — Tango Fabrika Level: all levels One of Maximiliano's most important seminars — fundamental work, useful for beginners as well as intermediate and advanced dancers. We will work with the most important structures of tango, rebuilding the functionality of our dance and prioritizing comfort and quality of movement in the couple. Body position and posture, embrace, connection, secrets of quality walking, forward and backward ochos, principles of leading and following. Melodic and rhythmic ochos in close embrace, rolls, continuity, and connection of movements. WS2 — FULL CONNECTION November 5, Thursday | 19:30–20:45 Riga — Tango Fabrika Level: all levels How to make the connection in the couple truly alive, comfortable, and functional? We will explore different ways of creating contact and interaction, improve the smoothness and freedom of movement, learn to properly distribute responsibility between leader and follower, and use different mechanisms of connection in the couple. We will analyze familiar forms of interaction that, in practice, block movement and hinder the freedom and fluidity of the dance. WS3 — FLUIDITY November 6, Friday | 19:30–20:45 Jūrmala — Villa Marta Level: intermediate / advanced How to find real flow in the dance? We will work with continuity of movement, interpretation, and timing — so that one movement naturally continues into another, and the dance does not fall apart into separate figures. Rebounds, alterations, continuation of dissociated and associated movements — tools that allow for changing direction and dynamics while maintaining the fluidity and continuity of the dance. PRACTICE — after the masterclass After the class, we will stay for another 2 hours of practice, open to everyone. You can calmly practice the material, dance, socialize, and spend the evening together in a pleasant tango atmosphere. Coffee, tea, and socializing. Cost of practice: 10 € per person 15 € per couple WS4 — MILONGUERO SYSTEM 1 November 7, Saturday | 14:00–15:15 Jūrmala — Villa Marta Level: intermediate / advanced Tools for comfortable and musical dancing in a small space and at a real milonga. Full embrace, rebounds, compact figures and working with different music. One of Maximiliano's key ideas: Milonguero is not just a "style." It is a way of interpreting tango. WS5 — DYNAMICS IN TURN November 7, Saturday | 15:40–16:55 Jūrmala — Villa Marta Level: intermediate / advanced Different qualities and dynamics of turns: • Giro Milonguero in close embrace • Melodic Giro • Giros using centrifugal force We will work not only with the mechanics of movement, but also with musical interpretation: how to change the quality and dynamics of a turn depending on the character of the music, and how to prepare the body for different concepts directly in the dance. WS6 — VALS November 8, Sunday | 13:00–14:15 Jūrmala — Villa Marta Level: intermediate / advanced Vals — musicality, dynamics and freedom of movement. We will work with alteraciones, changes of musical interpretation and the use of centrifugal force in more complex sequences. How to adapt movement to the characteristic rhythm of vals, freely change dynamics and connect more complex elements while maintaining smoothness, musicality and continuity of the dance. WS7 — HOW TO CREATE YOUR OWN SEQUENCES November 8, Sunday | 14:40–15:55 Jūrmala — Villa Marta Level: intermediate / advanced How to stop depending on ready-made combinations and start creating your own dance? We will go through a system that allows you to understand the logic of building sequences, freely combine familiar elements, use your own creativity and adapt movements to yourself, your partner and the music. Particular attention will be paid to developing your own style and individuality in tango. PRIVATE LESSONS Throughout his stay in Latvia, Maximiliano will also be available for private lessons.
